Accessibility by public transport

Are you coming by train or bus? On 9292.nl or via the app you can plan your trip from any starting point in The Netherlands. When traveling internationally, you best check nsinternational.nl. From Valkenburg station it is a 5 to 10 minutes walk to Santa’s Village, the centre of the town and the entrance to Christmas Town Valkenburg.

By train With the Arriva slow train RS18 you travel from Heerlen/Kerkrade Centrum and Maastricht to Valkenburg. An express bus also temporarily runs between Maastricht, Valkenburg and Heerlen. The express train RE18 runs between Heerlen - Aachen Hbf (DE). From Sittard you travel via Heerlen (RS15) or Maastricht (RS12).

  • You travel in South Limburg for only €5 (round trip)
  • The ticket is valid for one adult and one child (up to 11 years old)
  • You can travel during off-peak hours (all day on weekends and public holidays and during the week from 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM and from 6:30 PM - 6:30 AM).

The ticket is also valid at all intermediate stations (to Valkenburg)

Navigate to Valkenburg town centre and follow the yellow signs to ‘Kerststad Valknburg’. No navigation in your car or on your phone? Then use the description below:

Coming from direction Köln (Cologne) – Aachen (Aix-la-Chapelle) – Heerlen, follow the A79 motorway direction Maastricht//Valkenburg. Take exit Hulsberg – Valkenburg Centrum (exit number 4) and follow the yellow signs to ‘Kerststad Valkenburg’ and the instructions of the traffic regulators.

Coming from direction Eindhoven, follow the A2 motorway, direction Maastricht. Leave the motorway at exit Valkenburg (app. 5 km from Maastricht) and follow the signs to get on the A79 direction Valkenburg. Take exit Valkenburg – Houthem (exit number 3). Follow the yellow signs to ‘Kerststad Valkenburg’ and the instructions of the traffic regulators.

Coming from direction Liège – Maastricht, follow the A2 direction Eindhoven and take the exit direction A79 Heerlen / Valkenburg. Take the exit Valkenburg – Houthem (exit number 3). Follow the yellow signs to ‘Kerststad Valkenburg’ and the instructions of the traffic regulators.

Need a parking space? This year you can reserve a parking space at one of the parking lots at an affordable price!

Parking at Christmas Town Valkenburg

Municipality of Valkenburg makes sure you have a parking space even on the busiest days! With this promotion, you no longer have to search for a spot, as it is already reserved for you! Drive straight to your reserved parking space at one of the car parks. Buy a day ticket for € 9.00, print it out and put it under your windscreen. There will then be a guaranteed space for your car in the designated car park.

The parking ticket must be printed out and placed under the windscreen!!!

You can book for your visit on the following days:

• Friday 22 to Sunday 24 December 2023

• Tuesday 26 to Saturday 30 December 2023

A limited number of parking spaces have been reserved in the following car parks:
• Parking Par'Course 2, Prinses Beatrixsingel. Walking distance to the caves 850 metres

• Parking next to the Casino, head of the Cauberg. Walking distance to the caves 1,200 metres. Not the casino's own car park!

Where are parking spaces for the disabled?

There are a number of spaces reserved for the disabled in almost every car park.

Where can I park my coach?

Are you traveling to Christmas Town Valkenburg by coach? The best place to drop off and pick up your passengers is at the Odapark car park. Please do not forget to turn off the engine. Long idling is not appreciated. A large parking lot for coaches is reserved opposite the pick-up and drop-off stop. You can park your coach there by following the instructions from the traffic controllers. In case this parking lot is full, a parking overflow lot will be set up at the Cauberg. Here you can find more information.
