Experience the Christmas atmosphere in peace

From December 6 till January 3, 2026, beautiful crib walks have been set out in picturesque Schin op Geul, Sibbe, Broekhem and Houthem. These beautiful walks lead you past dozens of christmas cribs, various crosses and chapels and are the ideal opportunity to enjoy the Christmas atmosphere in peace.

If you are looking for an enchanting Christmas experience, the crib walks in and around the nature of Valkenburg are an absolute must-do. The annual crib walks show the warmth and magic of Christmas in a unique way. During the various kribkes walks you walk from kribke to kribke (the Limburg word for nativity scene) in the Valkenburg area. Each crib has its own unique atmosphere, often supplemented with lights or something moving. The routes vary in length, so there is always a route you can walk. In short: the crib walks are a welcome change during the busy Christmas holidays!

The routes are ideal for families with children to enjoy the Christmas spirit in a fun way at the many beautifully set up cribs! At various locations along the routes it is possible to take a break with a (hot) drink and delicious treats.

Crib walk Schin op Geul

Distance: 8.2 kilometres & additional loop to Kasteel Oost, The Wedding Castle: 1.8 km

This Crib Walk covers 10 kilometres including the extra loop and leads you through Schin op Geul. Along the way, you can admire 20 beautifully decorated cribs. Don’t forget to enjoy a tasty snack or a (warm) drink at one of the cosy cafés along the route.

Crib walk Sibbe-Ijzeren

Distance: 6.5 kilometres

Discover the marl village of Sibbe-IJzeren, where 28 cribs can be admired in and around the village. Just a stone’s throw from Christmas Town Valkenburg, this walk takes you across the Margraten plateau, past the Sibbergroeve, the Sibberhuuske and the Sint Rosa de Lima Church. Enjoy beautiful panoramic views along the way.

Crib walk Houthem St. Gerlach

From 8 December

Distance:
Loop 1 – Onderstestraat & Geulhem: 2.6 km
Loop 2 – Gerlachusplein & Vroenhof: 3.0 km
Loop 3 – Strabeek & Ingendael: 4.4 km
Loop 4 – Goudenrood & Houthem-Noord: 2.8 km

The largest Crib Walk in Christmas Town Valkenburg, featuring no fewer than 67 cribs. The walk is divided into four loops, which can be walked individually or combined. The total length of this Crib Walk is just over 12 km.

Crib walk Broekhem-Valkenburg

Distance: 4.8 km

This heavenly Crib Walk takes you past beautifully decorated cribs at special locations, from former monasteries to atmospheric churches. Along the way, you’ll also discover Kasteel Oost, where the Christmas spirit truly comes to life. And of course, a warm drink or a tasty treat is all part of the experience.
